Freedom from insurance regulations on your care that often prevent beneficial individualization.

Yes. I’m happy to answer questions to help you make this important decision. There is no need to feel responsible for figuring out 100%, before the first session, if I am the right therapist for you. If you choose to schedule, the initial sessions will be designed to provide valuable recommendations regarding next steps. Sleep clients and couples frequently report that the assessment phase (for sleep this could be as few as the first two sessions and for couples this would likely be the first four sessions) ending in a “coming together of the minds” as we share our impressions with each other—is significantly beneficial on its own. This evaluation and recommendations service is designed to be independently productive, even if you do not choose to proceed with therapy.
-
The first session is a comprehensive initial evaluation. For sleep clients, I’ll conduct a thorough psychological evaluation including your sleep patterns, habits, health history, and background. For couples, I’ll do a deep-dive assessment of each partner’s perspective, experience, and relationship history. From there, we’ll develop a personalized plan.
-
• Initial Evaluation: $300
• 40-minute session: $225
• 50-minute session: $275

Reduced-fee sessions are available — inquire for details.
-
Scheduling a session is a commitment to attend or to provide at least two business days’ notice if you’re unable to. A courtesy waiver for one missed session may be requested at your discretion. You can find full details at stonepsyc.com/cancellation-policy.

I’m a clinical psychologist specializing in behavioral sleep medicine and couple therapy. I help clients with sleep consolidation, regulation, and timing to optimize sleep health and improve overall functioning. Most of the couples I work with desire to re-establish a secure bond in which both partners are accessible, responsive, and engaged. I also work with couples on other specific goals such as co-parenting, parenting skills, or supporting an OCD treatment plan of one partner, a child, or other family member. My couples work is grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an evidence-based approach focused on strengthening emotional bonds. Read more about my approach here.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBTI) is the first-line treatment for chronic insomnia — recommended by the American College of Physicians as the gold-standard. It targets the specific behaviors and underlying thoughts that perpetuate difficulty falling and staying asleep.
-
Yes. Stone Psychology offers a traditional face-to-face CBTI program and an 8-week partially asynchronous CBTI program for eligible clients. The partially asynchronous format combines online components with direct contact with me, offering flexibility while maintaining clinical support.

Yes, as a behavioral sleep specialist, I treat insomnia as well as other problems with sleep duration and regulation, such as hypersomnia and circadian rhythms disorders. I also commonly see individuals with an organic sleep disorder such as narcolepsy and obstructive sleep apnea due to the strong behavioral factors associated with managing these disorders.
-
Medical sleep specialists focus primarily on the physical and physiological dimensions of sleep — diagnosing conditions like sleep apnea through sleep studies and managing them medically. I focus on the behavioral and psychological factors that drive sleep problems and can help manage them. Many people benefit from both, and I collaborate with medical providers who are also treating my clients.
-
That is a great first step! If you have already had a sleep study, I’d like to read the report. Please upload it through your client portal before our first appointment. Behavioral sleep treatment is effective on its own or alongside medical sleep treatment resulting from an overnight sleep study. Behavioral sleep sessions also support adjustment to medical sleep treatment.
