Cancellation Policy

Scheduling a session reflects a client’s commitment:

1) to pay the full cost of the time reserved or

2) to provide at least two business days notice if unable to attend.

You buy it when you book it. Clients who miss a session with less than 48 business-hours’ (that is 48 hours excluding weekends) notice are charged the full session fee. This policy is necessary because a large time commitment is made to you with each scheduled appointment, and that time is held exclusively for you when you schedule a session. Two business days ensures ample time to offer the appointment to a client on the waiting list. Please note, the Stone Psychology calendar week starts on Monday and ends on Friday. So, if you need to cancel an appointment on Monday, you will have to do so by the time of your appointment on the preceding Thursday. Please account for Federal Holiday closures as well when adhering to the cancellation policy.

At Stone Psychology, the cancellation policy is implemented consistently, keeping your therapist out of an arbiter position regarding these fees. No one will judge why you cancelled. Although the cancellation policy is not adjusted due to the reason for the cancellation (including loss, injury, illness, travel or weather disruptions, or school or work cancellations), if life gets in the way of an early cancellation, you have options:

  1. If there is an open appointment time within the same calendar week, you can have it at no additional charge. (Alternative appointments are based on availability and are not guaranteed.)

  2. At your discretion, you may request a one-time courtesy waiver for payment of a missed session with less than 48 business-hours’ notice. The request must be made by the end of the business day of the scheduled appointment.

  3. Also, at your discretion, you may request a one-time courtesy reduced fee of $100 for payment of a missed session with less than 48 business hours’ notice. The request must be made by the end of the business day of the scheduled appointment.

Considering this committment before signing your service agreement is appreciated; thanks for reading. Reach out with any questions.
